Sí, un apéndice, pero con su propia verdad y su voz. Vivía en la necesidad y en la inseguridad, mas lo aceptaba como un hecho más de la naturaleza implacable. No, no era bueno por naturaleza, la guerra existe desde que el hombre aprendió a reconocerse. Entonces llegó la modernidad. No fue (...) el primer paso, pero sí uno diferencial y relevante. Su espíritu es la regla y la uniformidad, somete naturaleza y hombres a regularidades justificadas. El hombre se siente dueño de sí mismo y de su condición. Entonces, el hombre pensó que acariciaba la inmortalidad y la omnipotencia, y encumbró la ciencia como instrumento eficaz, una segunda naturaleza. (shrink)

In 1994, Duverger spoke of a second type of fascism, to which he added a third for the future. This one would be based on spectacle, image, and the projection of myths of success. We are living in strange times, in which we no longer know how to place groups and ideas, we get lost in details, we establish classifications that make it harder for us to understand social phenomena. A shocking time in which the word “fascist” has become so (...) trivialised that it has almost lost all interest and meaning. If the range of regimes is so diverse, if we do not know what we are dealing with, what can we do? And yet fascism remains one of the great contemporary ideologies, the most recent and the most difficult to understand. Historically, it has been the cause of terrible genocides. (shrink)

The emergence of a populist model in politics. The direct appeal to popular support, to the power of action and the vote without political projects, ideologies or institutional and party structures. The postmodern condottiero addresses himself directly to the masses of individuals who feel a special loyalty to him, to her, and a historical responsibility to show active support. Farewell, then, to the ideological debate on the shaping of institutional power and its guarantees of rights, welcome to a new principle (...) of leadership. In the face of this thinking, the tradition of modernity and the Enlightenment, the public square as a meeting place for equals to debate, to reveal their own freedom and that of others, is rethought.
